Tropical Auckland
25 January 2012Just got returned from a fantastic week in Auckland. I did my first Bfm live session at Roundhead studios last week, and that was cool. I'm in love with that studio, thats my goal, to have my own studio like that to work in oneday..All I need to do is write a 'Don't Dream It's Over'. That's pretty easy, right? Really good pop music is the hardest genre of music to write I think..? That is asking for a huge argument...Sorry.
Anyway, We played Big Day Out on Friday, and that was interesting, firstly because it was a early set (the earliest show I have ever played!) and secondly, because it was the final NZ BDO, so there was a eerieness to the whole day... I think we played a good set, as well as we could have at 11:30am anyway. I was a little sunstroked towards the late afternoon, but I saw some good bands. UMO are one of my fave NZ bands right now. Best Coast were cool too.
After BDO, I went into the studio to record a new single, which will be done and dusted in the coming weeks. I think we captured the right vibe for it. I love studios, I prefer it to Live settings, because they are far less stressful. I've never been a theatrical frontman to any band, so for me its good to just focus on the music only, in the studio.
Oh, if anyone has an Ipad, you should download 'Harbour Master'. It's a great App..You have to get the ships in and out of the ports without making them collide. Nice.
Hope everyone is enjoying the summer, and if you are in Invercargill today/ tomorrow, look out for the Auroras!
