Karlya Smith is a freelance stylist with a background in Fashion Editing and Styling for magazines, locally and abroad. An interest in anything creative lead her to branch out into several disciplines including interior, food and still life styling. She costume designed both series of the award winning Jaquie Brown Diaries and has just completed Hounds, which will screen on TV3 in 2012. When not working as Sunday Magazine’s Fashion Editor, Karlya can be found conceiving and styling interior shoots for HOME magazine and doing ink illustrations for books and advertising.

I’m just fluffing around the house this week. Mooching in my kimono, getting over a cold, before I head to Wellington Fashion Week on Friday.

Due to lack of other material, I’m going to expose another of my dorky pastimes. Each time I put flowers in the house I take a photo. Here’s some of my favourites.

Some weeks I can't write about what I'm up to as it's not going to be released for a few weeks - months even - and is commercially sensitive. The last couple of weeks have been like that as I was shooting the saucy new Hallensteins Brothers TVC, which has just started screening on telly.

My fruity paint shoot just came out in Home. It was tricky to paint a bunch of bananas six shades of blue, but turned out to be worth it. The crop of the other shots doesn't work on this site but you can see them on karlyasmith.com

My weekday schedule hasn’t changed much since Kindergarten. Rise whenever I wake, eat some breakfast - preferably toast & spreads - then when the mood takes me play with paint.
