Trevor Horn is a pretty cool dude
05 December 2011So i've just been back less than a week from what was without a doubt the most inspiring two weeks of my life at the Red Bull Music Academy which was in Madrid, i've been lucky enough to be in attendance at a few academies now - starting with Sao Paulo in Brazil in 2002 and every academy up to the Melbourne edition back in 2006. One things for sure, in the 5 years since i've been away the academy has grown and evolved and now the level of participants and of course the lecturers in attendance are unbelievable. Taking the time to sit on the now infamous couch and share a tale or two this year in Madrid was everyone from Erykah Badu, MF Doom, RZA, Bootsy Collins, Nile Rodgers, David Bowie's producer Tony Visconti and one of my favorite 'nerd-out-to-anecdotes' moments was this man here - Trevor Horn. One of the most legendary producers to ever come out of the UK Trevor is responsible for some of the biggest records that dominated the car-stereo in the 80's from Frankie Goes To Hollywood to the Pet Shop Boys, ABC and was the man behind Malcolm McLaren's visionary 'Duck Rock' album. And i'm sure a few of you are familiar with Art Of Noise? Yup, that's Trev too. Basically, he's a legend - and if you've got a spare hour or so and up for some serious schooling, here's the first part of the interview. Incredible.
