Knitting for Penguins and Playing Festivals.
24 October 2011Just got back from playing in Newcastle, Australia for the Fat As Butter Festival - it was a million degrees BUT I didn't smash my face this time with my mic! The show was right on the beach, you could see people swimming in the water from where I was standing onstage. It felt super Australian, pretty much like the set of Home and Away!
I couldn't bring myself to do it - but the band all tried Kangaroo pizza! Waa Waa! It was so hot at the festival - the heat made us all a little crazy. We had a fill in guitarist for the show and he decided to eat a mango, passionfruit and lettuce sandwich - I couldn't think of anything more soggy (or yucky) really. It was the heat!
We are off to Hong Kong in a couple of weeks for a huge showcase which will be nuts, then off to Australia for our first bunch of shows of our own, and also a run of shows with Strange Talk! The poster for the Australian tour is so fancy! I love it.
I was just reading up more on the the oil spill in New Zealand - it's so sad and it can really make you feel helpless watching it all on TV - BUT - the penguins need sweaters knitted for them! It's to keep the oil covered ones warm until they are well enough to be cleaned. Apart from saving them they look amazingly CUTE! Here is the link if you know anyone or can knit - there is a knitting pattern and everything. So damn cute!
